is!!!
plaasgevind.

2.1 NUMSA slams labour broking *Stephen Grootes | Yesterday *
Metal workers' union NUMSA says labour brokering is another form of slavery.
It is asking workers to protest in favour of banning the processes during
lunchtime pickets this week.
Parliament held public hearings in Welkom on the issue on Monday.
NUMSA's General Secretary Irvin Jim says nothing will stop them in their
quest.
"We will never allow ourselves to be driven back into the dark days of
apartheid capitalism when workers were denied their labour and human right,
and they were racially fragmented and brutally exploited," says Jim

*South Africa**: the most unequal place on Earth!*
It is now official: South Africa has apparently overtaken Brazil as the most
unequal country on earth.
Professor Haroon Bhorat, University of Cape Town economics professor, has
confirmed that South Africa is now the most unequal society in the world,
with a significant increase in income inequalities.
Further, Professor Bhorat has confirmed that while inequality has also risen
among Black South Africans, the growth of white salaries in South Africa
between 1995 and 2008 far surpasses that of the growth of salaries among
Black South Africans.
Haroon notes that during this period, the salaries of Black South Africans
grew on average by about 38%, and that of white salaries grew by a massive
83%!
Clearly, as COSATU has consistently argued, the first decade of democracy in
South Africa has more than just benefited white capital, this period has
also seen the consolidation of the inherited privileges of white South
Africans, while entrenching Black poverty!
*B. The Global Crisis of Capitalism*
Apart from the inherited apartheid capitalist legacy of highly racialised
unemployment, inequality and poverty, today in South Africa, like everywhere
else in the world, thousands of jobs are lost each month. And many of these
jobs in South Africa are those done by Black South African workers.
We see again, how, even the capitalist crisis in South Africa sharply
assumes racial features, in its effects!
The global crisis of capitalism will further deepen the inequalities in
general, and racial inequalities in particular, in South Africa, as it
throws thousands of Black South African workers out of their inferior jobs.
We have already begun to hear from government how it will be hard to finance
social services, as the crisis of capitalism persists. Again, the hardest
hit from the shortage of resources to finance social services will be Black
South African workers and rural masses.
This inability to provide funds for massive infrastructure role out, for the
provision of essential services and for addressing the other equally
pressing social and cultural imbalances of the past, especially to Black
South African workers will further deepen both general and racialised
inequality and poverty, in South Africa, as the recession runs its course.
The global system of capitalism is in deep structural, systemic and
ideological crisis. It is unable to provide for the world's working people.
Instead, it is calling upon already impoverished poor and working peoples of
the world to further make cuts in their already low standards.
Racist shootings, killings and assaults of farm workers
8 September 2009
On 10th September 2009 at Madibeng Magistrate Court, where a farmer, Davie
Swart, will be appearing in court for the third time, charged with shooting
four young boys on 14th June 2009. The boys are still in pain from the
bullets.
On 11th September 2009 Tuies Broers will be appearing for sentence after he
was found guilty by the magistrate of Morokweng on 21st May 2009. This case
has been delayed deliberately since May 2009 till now by the magistrate of
Ganyesa to suit the farmer. The demonstration at Ganyesa Magistrates Court
will demand an investigation into the case of the son of a domestic worker,
Mrs Moeng, who blamed the farmer for her son's suicide last month. We were
told that it is because the court delayed the sentence deliberately.
On 14th September 2009 COSATU will be demonstrating at Lichtenburg
Magistrates Court when Johan Nel who allegedly shot a 16 year old boy in
October 2008 and no trial has been taken place.
COSATU also calls the media, such as Landbouweekblad and others, to stop
representing the views of the racist farmers who continue to kill, dismiss
and assault workers, using lions to kill farm workers, and shooting workers
mistaken for animals such as guinea fowl, pigs, dogs and baboons.

COSATU condemns racist injustice in the North West
3 August 2009
Farm workers and their families are living under threats, intimidation and
abuse. Since until 3 August 2009 we have lost three farm workers and a
15-year-old boy, who was forced to work in the farm as child labour, was
killed by a tractor
There is a clear picture of a real racist campaign led by white farmers and
some magistrates in the province. Only black farm workers and their families
are mistaken for animals; it never happens to white farmers or
families. What does that mean to the Human Rights Commission? What does
it mean to DA
and Agri- forum?
We are prepared to confirm in public all that we are presenting. These are
just a few of those cases that we can speak about. There are many cases out
there where farm workers, farm dwellers and their families are being
racially killed, abused and assaulted.

COSATU North West On Racial Brutal Murder Of Farm Worker Lebogang Mosikare
25 June 2009
The Congress of South African Trade Unions strongly condemns the attitude of
a few journalists who are basing their reports on verbal stories from the
racial perpetrators of assaults on farm workers and dwellers. Their sources
are both farmers and some police officer, particularly at Piet Duplessis in
the area of Stella, who are continuously working with white farmers to
brutally abuse, assault and kill farm workers and their families.
We want to call on the media to report the killings of farm workers as they
are reported by COSATU and the affected families. The media must stop being
biased towards the white racist farmers.
The COSATU leadership, Lebogang`s family and workers visited the farm and
the mortuary yesterday. It is on record that the white racist farmer killed
and assaulted Lebogang to death and took his body to the police station of
his friends. This was no natural death; he killed him.
COSATU calls on the media journalists to visit the farm and to see the body
at Vryburg mortuary and report to the public if it is a natural death or
not, as some were expressing sympathy with the white racist farmer.

COSATU North West On Farmer Who Killed Worker
24 June 2009
The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the North West once again
strongly condemns the killing of a farm worker who was allegedly killed by a
racist farmer called Sakie, who owns the Boosdam farm in the Vryburg area on
22nd June 2009. A farm worker, Lebogang Masikare, was allegedly killed for
not reporting to work on Sunday 21st June 2009.
COSATU calls for the racist farmer to be arrested immediately and not to be
granted bail.
It is now time that as workers of this country we must declare war against
this racist farmers who continue to kill our families every almost every
week. We are also preparing our members to declare war against the
Department of Justice, which is continuing to grant racist killers bail when
they kill black farm workers or members of their families.

FAWU Supports COSATU NW On Madibeng Shootings
Dominique Swartz, 18 June 2009
The Food and Allied Workers` Union [FAWU] fully supports COSATU North West
in condemning the shooting of four boys by a farmer in Madibeng on Sunday,
14 June 2009.
FAWU, together with COSATU is disgusted by the attacks on farmworkers and
their families in this province. We call on government to act speedily and
put in place stricter measures to deal with farmers who continue to shoot
people left and right. If government does not deal with this issue swiftly,
farmers will continue to get away with special treatment, minimum fines and
the slaughtering of farm workers and their families.
Over the next few weeks, we will embark on a programme of action against
racist farmers who thinks it is okay to use farm workers as shooting
targets. We will march to Agri North West and the Justice department on 3
July 2009 in Lichtenburg and on 7 July in Madibeng (Brits) to demand action
against these hooligans.

COSATU To Demonstrate At Mmabatho High Court Against Eviction Of
Spruitfontein Farm Workers
27 May 2009
We call once more that Hendrick Theussin broers must get his payback for
using his racist dogs since 1975. His payment must be more than ten years in
prison, so that he must learn how to treat people. We are still calling a
massive boycott of his shop, which is inside the community of Morokweng.
We call communities at Mafikeng and Ganyesa to support these actions against
racist farmers in the province.
Media is invited to the activities. For more information feel free to call
Solly Phetoe, COSATU NW Provincial Secretary, on 082 304 4055 or 072 710
0942.

COSATU North West On Farm Workers Dismissed On Election Day And Workers' Day
By Farmers In Stella
7 May 2009
COSATU condemns the attitude of all farmers who still think that this
country belongs to them as racist farmers. We also condemn their attitude
towards the labour legislation and our country's constitution.
COSATU calls for:
- National government to take action. We have been complaining for years
about North West racist farmers who are using their money to undermine our
country's laws and our constitution. This country belongs to all of us
including those farm workers who were dismissed; their contribution to this
country is very important to the people of North West.

Een so onlangse voorval is
